ALSA Japan and ALSA Korea have held the Study Trip, a cultural and academic exchanging program, based on the agreement since 2003. This program has been an opportunity for the participants to acknowledge each other's different values, and to build a true friendship for the last five years. This summer, in order to develop the continual trend and to hang it to the future generation, and through this, to make a progress on the fulfillment of the peace and equality in Asia, we will hold the Study Trip from Korea to Japan 2009. The most important goal of this project is to have law students of Japan and Korea reach a mutual understanding, and based on it, establish a real friendship with each other. What we expect is not a superficial friendship, which will be built ignoring the differences between the acknowledgment and the values of each other. Our goal is, to face the difference of the social and the cultural backgrounds we have, to take a straight look on the difference of our values which are based on our backgrounds, to understand each other, appreciate each other, and then, to make the effort to compromise with each other, to overcome the barrier, and at last, to establish a close and an enduring friendship. Japan and Korea are often reffered to as being “ nations both close geographically and distant politically“. It is sad that there are misunderstandings and differences of the values among the peoples of the two countries, which are to take each other's hands more than ever for the future of Asia, and that they are causing conflicts. The law students of Japan and Korea share common principles of law and justice, which value peace and equality. We believe, that to have these students have discussions with seriousness, understand each other and built real friendship, and enter society as one who commit himself or herself to make Asia better, will be a small, but an actual step towards overcoming the current situation and opening the way to the future of Asia. |
